The latest Corb-innovation featuring built in Heating AND Cooling is now available for the R1200 RT! The World’s first production Heated AND Cooled motorcycle saddle. Corbin was first to bring the luxury of heated seating to your motorcycle and now we’ve created an option for relief of your burnin’ bum during the Summer months. Like all Corbin break throughs, this system is designed for simple installation and is fully self contained in the saddle. Simplicity, Form and Function all wrapped up in one neat package.
Mike picked up a cool thermal imaging device and we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play around with it. Although the color time lapse video (HERE) is interesting to watch, this greyscale comparison actually tells the story more concisely. The two images in this comparison were shot just seven minutes apart with the first image being on “Cool” and the second image flipped to “Heat”. In these images, dark is cold and white is hot… Click the thumbnail and take a peek.
Corbin has taken the touring quality comfort to the next level with our ergonomic sculpting and wide supportive bucket shaping. Notice how the shape of the seat is lowest in the center which relives central pressure from your tailbone. This shape is contoured out to cradle your body and disperse weight over a greater area. This all adds up to comfort and support that will keep you in the saddle long enough to use up that large fuel tank!
Naturally we have built electric seat heaters into our saddle design that integrate with the BMW control module and now also offer the Fire & Ice model as well. A conveniently located switch along the side for the passenger works just like the stock unit. Temperature is controlled and maintained just like the OEM seat to provide luxurious heat on those chilly mornings. To add a touch of class and conceal the heating pads, we use a tasteful twin stitch pattern in a tuck & roll style in the leather seating areas. Cooling on the Fire & Ice model is not effected by the handlebar control settings.
This Corbin seat model also works with an optional removable rider backrest for added comfort and support. Sculpted to fit the shape of your back and simple to adjust with a single set screw. We offer multiple backrest models to choose from including our new “Ovalbac” series (#02-SB shown). Backrest support hardware is built into the saddle for a very clean look.
All Corbin saddles are built up with our exclusive Comfort Cell® foam. They may feel firm at first, but they break-in to your body and provide lasting support for years… firm is a Good thing! We’ve also neutralized the seating posture to curb sliding in the saddle and have provided ample room for you to move fore and aft depending on your riding posture.
Both saddle and backrest include genuine leather seating areas that conform along with the saddle for perfect break-in. We use leather in the seating and coordinated vinyl side panels to complete the custom look while keeping the saddle looking sharp and the foam shape crisp. We’re bringing riders a high value by providing leather saddles at a fair price. Shown here on the blue RT with black carbon-fiber leather seating, contrasting asphalt side panels and Moto-Sport embelished Corbin logo on the side. On the Platinum Bronze we used Black natural grain leather seating, Asphalt sides and Gunmetal welts.
For a final bit of customization, you can choose from a variety of backing plate options for your Corbin Ovalbac passenger rest. We offer a standard leather-look model or can provide a Carbon-Fiber look model at no extra charge (just be sure to specify). We also offer backing plates paintable or even prepainted gloss black for just a little extra.
Looking to add a little bit of storage to your bike? Just bolt on Corbin’s Glovebox in place of your backrest’s backing plate to add four liters of convenient locking storage. Glovebox comes fully lined and weather stripped to protect your cargo and holds all your essential small items where you can get at them easily.
Saddle installs using an integrated key lock system. Just install the supplied latch bracket on your bike and the seat will install and remove with a simple twist of a key. Corbin heated saddle uses a wiring pigtail that integrates with the OEM harness. Fire & Ice model uses two wiring pigtails (complete instructions included). The Corbin saddle is designed similar to the standard BMW seat for maximum touring support. See the comparison graphic above to see how they shape up.
About Fire & Ice: Ever hear of the Peltier Effect? If so, you’ve probably already figured out the basics of how the Corbin Fire & Ice system works. With just a couple of fans and some clever application we can include both heat and cool in the same saddle without pumps, compressors or fluids. It should be noted the cooling effect is affected by ambient temperature. The system will quickly cool the surface 10-15 degrees below ambient temperature. On the heat side we thermostatically set it to top out at approximately 110 degrees. The degree of heat/cool you experience will, of course, be influenced by the type of riding gear you wear.
Important note about seat heater: It has been brought to our attention that tapping the Corbin wiring pigtail into your BMW wire harness may effect your warranty. If you prefer not to use this method, you can get the BMW connectors from you local dealer and splice those to the Corbin seat heater pigtail. These BMW connectors are not included with the Corbin saddle.
